There were two cable railways on Skye/ Raasay
Raasay
1913-1919. The Inverarish (Raasay) iron mine featured a 1.5 mile steam/cable operated railway from the workings to Suisnish Pier.
Ben Suardal marble quarry
Ben Suardal marble quarry The quarry operated at two levels connected by a rope worked incline. The route of this incline and the bed of the lower horizontal winding wheel can still be seen along with the foundations of the limestone crushing plant and railway loading bay.
